Calling all night shift employees 🗣
So recently I have been switched from the day shift to the night shift at the hospital. I work as a nurse aide and my first time on night shift was last week and I was doing fine until they pulled me to the ER to sit with a patient (because they will pull Nurse aides to sit with patients and even work different floors) but it was my first time "sitting" and I was doing good until 2 am then I got drowsy and couldnt help but to doze off (not intentionally). Well the next night I worked i had to sit again and I sat with the patient for the full 12 hour shift and I dozed off multiple times (once again, not intentional). So the last night I worked I was pulled to sit again with another patient and I did fine until past 1AM then I started having moments where I would doze off. I cant keep doing that but I cant physically help it. I have tried caffiene, I have tried getting up and walking around but I get so tired I feel like Im going to pass out. I have tried staying on my phone, doing word searches. Nothing has worked. Until the area I work has over 8 people admitted I will be pulled to sit with patients and everytime I do i doze off multiple times. I desperately need some advice or help
