Should I be concerned or am I just connecting dots that aren’t there?
For some backstory, my 5 year old nephew was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes shortly before turning 2. By then he was in full blown DKA & was in the PICU for a couple weeks. I’m one of the very few people my sister trusts to babysit him & I’ve been a part of his care plan since day 1. I go to his endocrinologist appointments with them & the whole 9 yards.
My 3 year old daughter has been exhibiting some stuff he did at first too so now I’m concerned but I don’t know if I’m just automatically being like “that’s a symptom of T1D” for stuff that’s like normal kid stuff? If that makes sense.
The biggest one that really has me concerned is she’s constantly thirsty. She’ll chug 8oz of water in less than 30 seconds & turn right around & beg for more. She’s stolen drinks from her brother because she’s finished hers first. & because she’s drinking so much she’s peeing a lot.
Other stuff can be symptoms of just being 3 as well like the mood swings, her appetite fluctuates a lot; she’ll either be insatiable or she’ll only take a few nibbles or stuff all day.
I don’t know, do you think I’m just jumping the gun here or is this something I should bring up to her doctor?
