Boyfriends new job

So my boyfriend found out today that he’s got a new job within his company. It’s managing a different, bigger team for a bit more money.

I am happy for him and he deserves it.

But my issue is that he didn’t tell me that he’d been offered the interview at the time or anything else about the opportunity. Only a work colleague knew. He said he didn’t tell me, or anyone else because then if he didn’t get it, it didn’t matter and he wouldn’t have to tell anyone he messed up the interview and there would be no pressure from people asking him how he got on.

I totally get that. I get that. But I still can’t help feel a little insulted that he didn’t feel like he could tell me of all people.

I tell him about all of my failed job applications and interviews. So I feel awful that he didn’t want to tell me. And it has only reminded me about all of those times.

And he just didn’t get it when I tried to express that to him whilst still trying to be positive about the new job.

Logically I know it’s silly for me to feel this way, as it was his way of dealing with the pressure not him purposefully keeping secrets or hiding things from me but it’s hard not to feel that a little. I find it so frustrating that he’s such a closed book!
