Chemical pregnancy

I got a vfl Sunday and bfp Monday and started bleeding on Monday. It started as spotting dark brown dark red then turned into a period like flow for two days but not enough to fill up pads and then turned into spotting again. I’ve still been getting positives but I can’t tell if they are staying the same or getting lighter or getting darker. My dr told me I don’t need to be seen and that it’s a chemical to just test until negative. I’m scared it’s something more serious than a chemical but I’m not having any cramps or pains just some pregnancy symptoms like nausea and tired. How long does it take to get a negative test ?
