HSV - Help

So my doctor just told me I tested positive for HSV which is herpes/ cold sores? This is the first time I heard of this. I don’t have cold sore outbreaks and the only time I could remember having an “outbreak” was when I was in middle/ high school but my doctor at that time never mentioned this before.

I’ve only had two partners in my life. My first was in college and I never had an outbreak EVER!

My bf now of 8 months in the beginning said he recently took std/sti tests before we started dating and came back fine.

My doctor mentioned to me that 80/90 percent of the population either has it or doesn’t know they have it yet.

I’m trying to see when I developed it but it seems like it happened just recently and the only thing new is my bf.

Am I overthinking or anything? I get the number my doctor gave me but Idk.

Any thoughts/opinions or advice would be appropriated!
