How are golden retrievers as pups and adults? Are they really easy to take care of & good with kids?

Hi guys so I’m looking to buy a golden retriever puppy & I have heard they are perfect for family and kids, I have 2 younger kids, 2 & 4, and they love animals 
A golden retriever is so freaking adorable but I just want to know what I’m getting myself into before I proceed, 
are they easy to deal with? 
What are the requirements with these type of dogs?
Are they good with kids?
Are they full of energy?
I’m a calm person and don’t really like to much craziness, so I’m hoping their laid back dogs, and not like husky’s (my sister had a husky and that dog was waaaay to much to handle & loved to chew on everything)
I would love to hear everything about a golden retriever from you guys! Thank you!

I would do research as there’s a lot of information on each breed. 
With that being said, golden retrievers can be easily trained and are well behaved. They’re considered good family dogs as they’re very friendly. They’re very protective, but rarely will ever show aggression. My aunt and uncle have only ever owned golden retrievers, with their kids, and now with their grandkids. The downside is that they have a common risk for developing multiple health problems.

I grew up with a couple of different dog breeds, our golden retriever was literally the BEST dog ever. He was such a sweet heart and so gentle and kind with all the kids. He would let us lay on him and cuddle up to him. Once I have the time I'll deffinetly be getting my kids a golden retriever.

I have had 3 golden retrievers that I grew up with. They are the absolute best family dogs! They were always great with my nieces and nephews when they were little. They would lay down next to the kids and loved playing. Mine weren’t super high energy and they are easy to bath and brush. If my husband wasn’t allergic I would have 20 Goldens right now 😂 I will say the only downside is they do have medical problems a lot of times bc they are overbred. My first Goldie ended up with cancer and we had to put her down when she was 8. My second Goldie lived to be 16 but he had hip dysplasia. My third Goldie went blind at 8 and then deaf shortly after but she lived to be 15. Just something to consider.

No dog is easy. And they should all have solid training. Online you can find a lot about average temperament. It really depends on the dog. Usually yes, but I take care of one that has probably 30 pounds on me and can take me down no problem. He wasn’t trained as a puppy so he is impossible to care for and deal with let alone take on walks by myself. There are plenty of websites dedicated to it, and I’m sure shelter employees might have some advice
