Bulging Waters????

Question

Ended up in the hospital last night with intense what they call “false labour” contractions. I’ve been having them for three weeks and I’m SO annoyed. Anyways the doctor offered to do a sweep, and I agreed and then she’s like “wow! Don’t move your waters are bulging, I don’t want to rupture them!” 
Sooooooo first off why not just rupture them LOL. Second off does bulging waters mean labour is close??
Never experienced this with my first!!

They don't like to just break waters if they don't have to. Once the water is broken, that baby has to be delivered soon. The water will break in its own time and it seems your doctor wants it to happen that way rather than forcing you into labor right now.

How far along are you? If you’re around your due date, I would have been so annoyed with that comment. Like, can we just speed this up then ? Lol.  If I were you, I would just have a lot of sex or walking perhaps.  You should be pretty close to labor, anytime now!

If the baby isn’t pressed right up against your cervix breaking your waters can cause the cord to slip under and that is an emergency situation. Bulging waters basically means that your amniotic sac is literally bulging out of your cervix and baby is still higher up.
