When to introduce pacifier?

My little one def still wants to suck even with a very full tummy. I think it’ll help her sleep. She’s only 5 days old tho so I don’t wanna ness up nursing or anything. Thanks for any tips !

My lactation consultant said it wouldn’t mess anything up. I’m no expert, but in my opinion you gotta do what you gotta do. My LO is a big sucker too and she’d shred my nipples if I didn’t use a pacifier.

Whenever you want to. They literally give them to NICU babies in the hospital - if she's eating well and you want to give her one go for it. The best advice my OB ever gave me was "don't let baby use you as a pacifier, you both need a break and that's okay."

I introduced a pacifier to both of my boys in the hospital because they were both that way and we had no issues with latching or feeding at all!

All of mine have had them within 24 hours of birth, even my preemie.  It never interfered with breastfeeding xx

General reccomendation is, when baby is good at feeding. So, if baby latches good and has no problems, I would introduce.

We introduced a pacifier in the hospital because she just wanted to suck and it was the only thing that calmed her when she had to have light therapy. She has not had any issues breast-feeding because of the pacifier. She is a comfort sucker like most babies and the pacifier has been an awesome tool￼
