12 Hour Shifts and Pumping
I am super nervous about going back to work this coming up weekend. I am an ICU night shift nurse and I work 12 hour shifts. Prior to pregnancy and while pregnant, I would work 7 nights in a row and have 7 nights off. However, I decided cm when I go back that I would work weekends so my parents who are teachers can watch my baby (so I would be instead working three nights in a row and have four nights off). Right now I have been breastfeeding as well as pumping and giving my baby pumped milk by bottle. She does fine with both. I am nervous about pumping at work because the job can be so unpredictable and when a critically ill patient goes bad, you cannot just step away. Prior I had a hard time making time to eat lunch, nevertheless, trying to find time to pump. My baby is doing so well right now with breast milk. I am super worried about finding time to pump and keeping my supply up while still being an awesome nurse too. Any suggestions?
