Ma'Khia Bryant
She didn't deserve to die. If people like Kyle Rittenhouse can walk about with a huge rifle after killing someone, and get home safely, Ma'Khia should have been able to return to her family alive. The cop didn't even ask any questions once he got there, and if he would have pulled his taser as quick as he pulled his gun, she would still be here! Also, he was the only cop who pulled a gun, didn't even try to deescalate the situation!
But it's also sickening that adults are just standing there while kids are fighting. Why didn't they keep Ma'Khia in the house until the cops arrived? People are arguing it was self defense, her using a knife on the other girls who came to fight her, but honestly she would have been able to avoid the situation by not leaving the house. So in terms of the law, I don't think it was self defense in this case (correct me if I'm wrong). If the girls would have broken into the house to continue to try and fight her then I think it would be self defense because she wouldn't have been able to leave that situation, so protecting herself would have been the only option. After she called the cops she should have waited in the house instead of leaving to go outside to fight the girls. And the adults should of made sure she stayed in the home.
Although I wouldn't be dumb to attack someone at their home, I would hope that if the cops were around and saw someone trying to stab me they would stop it. But I just don't think she deserved to die. The other cops didn't pull their guns so why did he? He also grabbed his gun so quick when he could have grabbed his taser just as quick.
I hope I am wording my thoughts right. She didn't deserve to die. The cop should not have killed her. I feel like they should have tried to deescalate the situation but seconds into the video all you see is a girl running around trying to stab two people, so maybe he really thought that was the best way to save them?? Someone also said that cops aren't trained to use tasers when they see someone trying to stab someone else, is that true? I just wish this could've gone differently. A 16 year old doesn't deserve to die, especially when there are white criminals who get to walk away with their lives after committing terrible crimes.
