Didn’t make it to blastocyst - open for other doctors/fertility center recommendations
Hi, everyone. Had my first egg retrieval last Thursday and while there were only 8 retrieved, I was feeling grateful that 7 were mature and 6 got fertilized right away to day 1 embryos by Friday. Today I got the call from the doctor that unfortunately none of the 6 made to the blastocyst stage, today was Day 7. It's our first ever IVF cycle and there's just so much hope and prayers (not to mention the amount of emotional and physical stress plus financial) and investment that goes into this journey that we have to pause a bit and recalibrate our steps.
My husband and I will talk some more tonight but at this early he was already saying to look for other IVF doctors and fertility centers. I've researched extensively before starting our journey and decided on Dr. Forman at Columbia University Fertility and I do like him and was impressed by the raving reviews. I don't necessarily think this is about him or the fertility center, we obviously can't control the full outcome and can only hope for the best. Just thought I'd ask my NYC ladies if any of you did change doctors or fertility centers and if that worked out really well for you? I would be extremely grateful for your recommendations and advice.
Thanks, all.
