Starting letrozole after losing 113lbs TTC 6 years

I went to my RE in 2016 for the first time at 282lbs and he straight up told me I needed to get my weight under control and help myself before he could ever help me. My PCOS was out of control. I had high blood pressure, testosterone, cortisol, etc. After I left that appointment I did lose about 30 pounds, getting to about 255lbs.

Then we moved and things got hectic and then we moved back (cross country). So I never went back to see him inevitably at the next appointment I scheduled. I gained more weight after, topping out at 312lbs.

Fast forward to 2020 and my team, the Kansas City Chiefs had just won the Super Bowl. For some reason that was significant to me, they had not won in all of my childhood and I felt that this was a sign. Oddly. So I started in January 2020 and lost about 24lbs before quarantine where I stalled but didn’t gain, then starting in June I joined a dietbet and from there on with keto and intermittent fasting I dropped the weight. I did get a physical job in October which only helped. This month in April I hit 199lbs. My blood pressure went from 144/90 at it’s highest to 112/80 and my insulin resistance was completely under control. Last but not least, after hitting the 80lbs mark my periods returned and were regular (29-35 days). I got my first positive ovulation tests in this time as well. The fruits of my labor were becoming more evident.

So on the 19th of April I had an appointment with my RE, that I hadn’t seen since 2016.

He was so incredibly impressed with my weight loss, he was so genuine in his joy for me. He immediately made a plan for us to start medication and schedule an HSG.

So now I’m on 5mg of letrozole and I’m continuing my 2000mg of metformin. My ovidrel/trigger shot is ready for when my follicles are mature. I’m just so excited that all I’ve worked for is finally being set into motion. After my first appointment and making a plan I cried all the way home. I know this doesn’t guarantee anything but I have hope in my heart again.

We’ve been TTC for 6 years.
