Has anyone colored their hair in the first trimester?

I’ll be 12 weeks on Wednesday and I haven’t done my hair since I found out I was pregnant. I was going to color it in the next few days but I had a family member tell me that it’s definitely not safe and I better not do it and wait until later in my pregnancy. Now they have me paranoid. Has anyone else colored their hair?

I was either 6 or 7 weeks when I did

I did 🤷‍♀️ head full of highlights when I was 8 weeks. Baby is completely healthy. As long as you’re in a well ventilated area, my hair dresser and doctor told me it’s fine.

I did a balayage with a toner during my first trimester. Talk to your provider but there are women who work with hair products daily through their pregnancy and are totally fine. The products have come a long way! My midwife said it’s safe. I’m also regularly getting my nails done lol.

It's technically safe, but definitely talk to your doctor first. I'm personally a hairstylist so I'm exposed to the fumes just for work when I do color (I wear a mask to help filter it though, helps alot especially ammonia based color). If you're worried about chemicals being on your skin you could always do some color that is off your scalp, and wear a mask or respirator while having the color applied if you're worried about potential fumes. ❤️ and don't forget you never have to do something you're uncomfortable with doing, and there's no shame in rocking your natural color

I would not. Just a piece of advice. It’s full of freaking chemicals. I hate those including nail polished. Sorry for the ladies that are fan of these. But everybody has different definition of personal hygiene.

I've always dyed my hair while I was pregnant and both my kids are completely fine now

I got my highlights touched up. I do more of a shadow root so the bleach doesn’t touch my scalp.

Yes your fine my doctor told me just make sure your in a well vented area

I’m doing mine this week at 11. Talk to your hairdresser. They may suggest that you do less color but it’s fine to color your hair.
