Miscarriage??

Hey, I was 5 days late on my period,negative pregnancy test but suffered the worst pains before finally bleeding then passed this clot and the pain instantly subsided. Could this have been a possible miscarriage and my hcg levels were too low to pick up? I did have sex during my fertile week also.
