How long can I room share?

Hi moms — my goal is to share a room with my LO for as long as possible. I live in the smaller 1 bedroom back unit of my property and I rent the 4 bedroom front house. This arrangement allows my family to live rent free so I’d like to continue with this arrangement for as long as possible. My LO is 5 months. How long can I live in a 1 bedroom with him for? I don’t care what’s recommended by professionals which is why I am reaching out to other moms who have personal experience with this. How long did you make it work? Any tips? We’ve considered building another bedroom but the construction would be a pain

My daughter is 2 years and 4 months so still very little and therefore I don't have that much experience. We have been sharing our bedroom and our goal is to keep doing so as long as possible. So far everything has gone perfectly. We have a baby arriving in October so we'll see how that changes things.
I think it depends on the personality, wants and needs of a child. Some might want more privacy and space earlier, some later. But it's also a thing they learn - if they have been sharing the bedroom (or even co-sleeping) since forever, that's the ordinary for them. Sharing the bedroom and co-sleeping are seen so differently across the world and how it is viewed has a lot to do with customs, living environment, wealth and cultural values. If sharing the room is treated with acceptance instead of shaming or judging (from family, friends and other people) I can imagine a child is willing to do it longer even if it wasn't the norm of the society / done by the majority of people.

My kids have their own room,  it basically just holds their toys,  they prefer to sleep with me or at least in my room. They're 6 and 4.

Well where I live I was allowed up till they was 5 had to be there own beds and what not although they slept with me I still had the beds just for the rules but most people do what they please and some follow the rules  are cps people told me and my husband up till 5 years old then own bedroom and the ages and sex don't matter as long as they have there own beds and stuff for it and not bugging or other things going on but I'm one to follow through with this cause I don't want to lose my kids as where I live a lot of people are for the smallest things why I want to move but please look into your laws at least and benefit from them to your own will there are some gray spots you can surely make use of but I feel it's up to you and your children although you don't want to be sleeping with a child till they 18 lol little joke but what feel best for u and what your town or state and what not allows should be enough like mine it up till 5 years old I don't feel they should be needing more then that and my 5 year old was wanting her own room since she was 4 but we had to move to do so now she very happy with it although she falls asleep with me she always ends up in her bed good luck with your information finding and you find something that works for you

In other cultures all of the family share one room, so you can room share as long as you want.

I have a friend that still room shares with her 6 year old. 🤷🏻‍♀️ He has his own corner in their room with a bed. They all sleep better that way. When he was in his own room he was in and out of their room all night long so they gave up sometime when he was 2-3. 
So whatever works for you and your family.

Well I guess technically you can room share however long you want. 
However, that may not be good for the long run.
