I just need some insight

So my husband and I just had our son 7 weeks ago, I went to my 6 week checkup and they said I was clear to start any activities and to have sex. They asked me if I wanted to go on birth control but I wanted to talk to my husband about it and so I said that I’ll give them a call if I want it sent to the pharmacy. So I asked my husband about how he feels about me going on it and he said he just wants to stick to condoms. (I’ve went on birth control in the past and it took a little while for us to conceive). I wanted to go on birth control so the worry wouldn’t be there of getting pregnant versus the condom ripping and what not, and I also feel like when he’s not wearing a condom, it’s so intimate. idk he may feel like there’s no difference with the sensation. Should I just let it be and do what he wants and let him wear a condom? Or should I talk to him further about it?
