Any moms with herpes have successful vaginal deliveries?

I’m on valtrex, I’m just worried about shedding the virus without any active sores because I know that can happen. I also found out I have strep B so I’m wondering if all around a vaginal birth is a bad idea.

Re: herpes - if your primary outbreak occurred before your pregnancy or early in pregnancy, you will pass antibodies to your baby. The prophylactic valtrex will suppress outbreaks around delivery time and prevent shedding. In conjunction with the antibodies, there is a very tiny chance of your baby contracting HSV. The medical staff will perform a thorough inspection prior to delivery to check for lesions. They have a low threshold for performing c-sections in a case like this.

I personally do not have that, but my cousin did and she had a vaginal birth with 0 issues whatsoever in December 2019. Her son is healthy and has not had any issues. Talk to your doctor about it and she will discuss a birth plan with you. Good luck!
