Toddler tonsillectomy?

Question

My 3.5 year old daughter is possibly going to have her tonsils taken out. I’m a NERVOUS WRECK. The dr said they’ll take her from me in the waiting room to put her to sleep 😨 I know for a fact, that will traumatize her. Like beyond comprehension. 
Has anybody ever dealt with this? Has anyone’s toddler had tonsils & adenoids removed? If so, why? How was surgery? How was recovery? 
Please give me alllllllll the details!!

I only have the experience with my little sister.  She was about the same age(3-4).  I was about 11/12 so I only remember from my perspective of what I saw.  She stayed in the hospital overnight after the surgery.  She had popsicles and other than that it was fairly simple and otherwise unremarkable.  She didn’t have any complications at all.  
As far as handling the fear your child might have...you need to talk about it in a positive way.  Explain to her that she will go with the very nice doctors and nurses and they will take very good care of her.  Tell her about something she can look forward to after she wakes up from surgery.  Maybe a new toy or my sister’s favorite, the popsicles.  If you show her that you are afraid, then she will feed off of your fear.  Show her that you are calm and positive and she may feel the same.
