Blood work?

I found out I’m pregnant with baby #1, I see a lot of girls have been getting blood work done consistently before their 8 week appt. Is that something I should schedule with my doctor? I’m 4 weeks and 1 day but my lines are pretty dark already... (don’t mind the stray hair on the counter 😂)

I’m on my third baby and I’ve never once had blood work to check HCG levels... I’ve always wondered why it’s done so regularly anyways because it just causes anxious moms to over analyze and worry.... And honestly, there’s almost nothing that can be done this early anyways if HCG isn’t doubling. I always call as soon as I find out, and then based on my last period they have me come in for a viability scan at my estimated 6 weeks.

It really depends on where you are. My OB does blood work to confirm pregnancy for everyone, then a scan at 5 weeks to see the sac, and one at 6 weeks to hear the heartbeat.

Depends , mine likes to keep tabs because a lot of times they can pick up an ectopic that way.

I think it depends where you live because I e never had blood work to check hcg levels except for a miscarriage. I only get blood work at 12 weeks and that’s it

Im 4weeks 5 days and I have blood work scheduled for tomorrow. Mine does it to confirm pregnancy, and rule out any conditions like HIV or HPV. Im not sure if I’ll have repeat blood work done or not, but I’m thinking not as I only have the one script for tomorrow, and my first ultrasound scheduled in 9 days and a follow up in 13 days

I’m exactly 4 weeks today and I’m curious of this too. I’m also so nervous bc it’s still early but I’m still doing my strips to see if it’s getting darker. I think I might do it for an extra week or two...

Where I am at they do a nurse appointment at 7 weeks without bloods and a scan at 8 or 9 weeks with bloods. So my blood won’t be drawn until 9 weeks in.

I’m a freak so I called doctor today because I couldn’t believe it was real. Got blood drawn today and again Wednesday to see it increasing then we schedule our 7-8 week appointment

I had blood work done 3 times with my first pregnancy, BUT my doctor at the time didn’t do obstetrics so they wanted to confirm my rates were doubling properly before she would refer me to the other office/doctors. This time around they just asked when my last period was and schedule me for my first apartment close to 8 weeks.
