Moms with sons, what life advice would you give me about raising him?

I’m going to be a single mom raising a son. Please tell me the good, bad and the ugly about raising a boy. The more advice and knowledge I have the better. Thank you.

Create a line of open communication about relationships and sex when age appropriate. Teach them about red flags and types of people to watch out for.
Talk about their emotions being ok to be felt and expressed.

I have a son getting ready to turn 13 this year. Raising a boy hasn’t been that bad. Lots of farts and missing the toilet seat when he pees. Boys can be pretty gross but since he’s my 1 and only, idk if girls are worse or just as bad but my experience, boys are gross. 😂 I grew up as a tomboy so it made it easier to relate to him as he got older. I wouldn’t really say there is anything bad or ugly about raising a boy. It’s been fun so far. He does give me attitude but that comes with age. He was diagnosed with ADHD and has an IEP in school and also goes through counseling with adult & child because of his previous behavior. He’s also in sports which helps him a lot as well.

We focus on emotional control and healthy express of emotions   Mostly so he will always have that skill as he gets older. Also proper communication of feelings.
