Have you and your SO every taken a break?

My boyfriend and I had a fight and just didn’t see eye to eye and he said we should take a break for a month. If you have taken a break before did it work out well in the end? I have so many people telling me breaks don’t work and you may as well just break up. Comments? Opinions?

no, personally i don't see a point. if it's bad enough to not want to be together, then don't be together. if you want to stay in the relationship, then stay and work through it. whether that's self-reflection, couples therapy, etc. if you break up and end up wanting to get together later, that's fine. taking a break just seems like a grey area for potential tension imo. but every couple is different so if you think it's the best decision, that's perfectly fine. we don't know the context of your relationship.

Ive never been asked to take a break, but I were, the break would be permanent. Men use breaks as opportunities to fuck around and come back to the consistent one they knew was too gullible to ever really leave them.

I don’t believe in breaks at all. That’s giving up. If you can’t work through your problems, don’t be together. Give each other space, for sure, but if you feel the need to “take a break from your relationship” you shouldn’t be in the relationship.

My guy and I took a break for a month, but we set rules and boundaries before hand so that we were comfortable and new we were only taking time for ourselves. When the break ended we got back together and it only made our relationship stronger.

Honestly, I think “taking a break” is the end of a relationship. 
I know my ex would have also used it as an opportunity to cheat on me. 
If my fiancé and I fight or get frustrated at one another, we go and cool off for maybe an hour or two until we can talk it out without conflict.

Yes, I’ve taken a week long break with my bf last year, and honestly it wasn’t worth it. We both weren’t happy cuz of stress with school and personal problems, and I knew he wasn’t putting in any effort like before, so I needed time alone to boost myself up again, but after we got back together, he eventually broke up with me and I knew our stress wasn’t going to go away after just a week :/ 
But hey! 9 months later after being single and enjoying that single life, we both made ourselves better without stress and were brought back together. We were still best friends during those 9 months and talked daily.
It really depends on effort on both side of the table, and if you really think it’s worth being treated a certain way from your s/o. If it’s not healthy for yourself, you have to step out and fix yourself up first. You yourself should always be your first priority

I never did. But I know someone that did and after 2 weeks she figured that she was much happier without him in her life and left him.

We broke up twice for a few weeks, I feel like it brought us closer together we’re happier than ever now. It really just depends on your relationship and the types of people you are.

We took a ‘break’ 2 years into our relationship for 1 month. Got back together. We officially ended our relationship. Like 3 months later. If you’re done you’re done. Don’t drag it out.
