Answer

It depends on the situation and the kid/s- it takes him a while to warm up in new environments and he doesn’t ever approach kids that are loud or playing very physical type activities. He will approach quieter kids that are engaged in the activities he’s more interested in by himself in environments he’s comfortable in (at our house or another house he’s familiar with, at daycare, at the small park on our street).

At this point with my toddler there’s still a lot of parallel playing. He’s doing his own thing while playing and interacting with other kids that do their own thing. But he does play with them. He’s just an active independent little sucker and is always on the move haha
