Can I bring my own food for when I go into labor?

With my first all I could have was ice chips and they’ve changed guidelines to clear liquids and maybe even Jell-O, not sure if my hospital has caught up to this or not. So...if they haven’t. Can I bring my own?

They can tell you not to eat ... but they’re not going to check your bags and they’re not in the room the whole time. Unless you’re at particular risk for a c-section, you can eat, even if they tell you not to. It’s what I’d do 🤷🏻‍♀️ Birthing is hard work and you need fuel! That said, I donmt usually want to eat much when I’m in labor, but I’ve had intense ones and lose what I ate early on usually. You’re the one giving birth, you run the show, as long as things are progressing normally. If I want to eat, I’m gonna eat. (Side note: I birth at home with a midwife. I’m actually encouraged to do what I want, especially eat in early labor).

Depends on the facility. I was allowed to bring and eat whatever I wanted during labor :)

I would ask your hospital. I was allowed to bring in whatever food I wanted- nothing that needed to be cooked of course but things like chips, fruit, sandwiches, cookies,  candy, etc were all fine to bring and eat during labor.

I laboured 4 years ago and rhey didnt let me eat at all!!! Which actually made me have an epidural because it was 6 pm and i had been on the move since breakfast time and the last thing i ate was brekkie at like 9. This time i dont give a fuck im bringing granola bars lol. I want to stand and deliver so im gonna need energy

With my first two, I wasn’t able to eat while at the hospital. With my most recent delivery in April, I was able to eat as long as I wasn’t on pitocin. We actually stopped the pitocin for about a half hour so I could eat Jimmy Johns. It helped SO much and gave me much needed energy to push baby out after being there for ten hours!

It all depends on what of labour you going to have because with a c section you can't eat after 10 o'clock pm the previous day before you go in to have the baby and after giving birth you can only eat again after passing gas...with my baby I didn't eat for 4 days after giving birth...

I was only allowed popsicles which the hospital provided. Forgot the science on this. Thinking if it is in case u need emergency c-section..
