Birds as pets is it wrong?

Growing up we always had birds as pets we had cockatiels they would breed and we would find homes for the birds or sell them to our local pet store. We always did open cage in our house and never clipped the birds wings. Open cage is the cage was left open most of the day so the birds can fly freely around our house and were potty trained to use the bathroom in the cage. My dad also built a large bird habitat outside and we would bring them outside when the weather was nice. The habitat was large enough for the birds to fly around. The pet store we sold the birds to would call us for more and always told us our birds were the friendliest and happiest birds they have seen and never had a problem finding homes for them.

My husband is against getting a bird and I wouldn’t get one now because we have cats who I know will eat it. I don’t like leaving birds locked up in a cage and would only get a bird if I could leave the cage open and let the bird fly freely around the house most the day.

I was interested how people feel about birds for pets? How people feel about clipping birds wings?

Also I recently saw these never used one and just learned about them recently. How do you feel about these as well, they are used to bring birds out for walks.
