My first doc apptmt (6-8 week visit) is virtual?

Question

I asked if they needed to take blood to check HCG levels and they said not yet and I asked “aren’t you supposed to check for a heartbeat ?” And I haven’t heard anything back. Is this normal? The next scheduled appointment will be in person, but not until 10w3d. I’d hate to wait that long to find out there’s no heartbeat or something awful!? 
Baby #1 after TTC for 8 months.

My 1st app I will be 12 weeks so I got a private scan do for reassurance that’s an option if your nervous :)

Yes normal I went in to take a pregnancy test to confirm pregnancy, then had a virtual appointment at 8 weeks and my next appointment is a dating ultrasound at 11-12 weeks. Unless you've had miscarriages or are high risk for any other reasons you have to wait. It sucks I know, you could always have a private scan but it'd cost you some money.

Mine is exactly the same! I was offered a phone appt at 8 weeks and then I don’t actually go in until 10.5 weeks! They said it’s because they’re trying to combine/reduce in person appointments because of covid 😣

I have an 8 week scheduled with my midwife for my first ultrasound. That will be my first appointment. I called at 6 weeks to schedule and that was Monday. Two weeks has never seemed like such a long time😂

My first appointment for first and current pregnancy was at about 10 weeks and that’s when they also did blood work to check levels. 
I had to do an ultrasound about a week after my appointment this time around because baby was hiding under c-section scar so pressure on it looking for a heartbeat was a little painful. 
At the following appointment (4 weeks later) baby again was being stubborn and hiding under scar, but we found heartbeat and now we wait until June 10th for next ultrasound for gender. 
First appointments are usually about 4 weeks out from each other and closer to due date they become more regular.

The first appointment is typically going over health history and letting you know what happens at the other appointments. They won’t do a blood test unless you have a medical reason to. It might still be too early to check for heartbeat (around 6 weeks). 8-10 weeks is typically when they do a first ultrasound. Yes it’s definitely a long wait.
