How do you introduce toddlers to each other?

I’ve been trying to take my toddler to the park often to help him socialize more. The first year of his life he had basically zero interactions with other kids his age. (Thanks Covid). I’ve been trying to figure out how I can get my son to interact with them without making him uncomfortable.

I did try one tactic of making the other child feel comfortable around me, but I think that made my son upset and he avoided me and the other toddler.

My son is pretty shy to.

Any tips on how to get two stranger toddlers to interact more?
