Would you transfer an untested embryo? I’m 37

I’m not 37 but I’ll soon be 35, we transferred two untested embryos, 4AA & 4BB+, both of them stuck. Both have strong hearts & are growing as they should. We will be 9wks pregnant with twins Thursday!

If it wasn’t an option to transfer a tested embryo or to do another retrieval, then yes I would transfer an untested embryo. I currently have 4 tested frozen embryos left and one of them came back as “inconclusive”, which my dr said is basically the same as untested, so we don’t plan on transferring that one. I was 36 at the time of my retrieval and out of 9 frozen embryos, 4 came back PGT normal, so approximately 50%. Obviously everyone’s situation is different, but I would guess that at 37 you have a 40-50% chance of success with an untested embryo, which isn’t terrible! My acupuncturist said her wife was in her late 30s when they did IVF and they transferred 4 or 5 untested embryos and 2 of them stuck and resulted in their twin boys.

I don’t think testing is as common in the UK and the cost is high compared to the IVF itself. We didn’t do it because of that. I’m 37 and had my FET 5 days ago with a 5AA untested embryo. Had a faint positive this morning 🙂

In the UK embryos aren’t sent for testing as standard! So yes I did and am currently pregnant after my first round of ivf xxx

We chose not to do pgs testing and our RE didn’t feel there was a need. Our son was result of ivf icsi and is perfectly healthy. We have four frozen untested embryos and doing a FET at the end of next month
