How long I  use the pad depends on my flow, if hardly anything is coming out, there’s no need to change it every time you go to the bathroom or anything, or if you’re wearing a thin pad versus one of those thick mattress ones. if it’s heavy or there’s an oder than yes I change it,. ￼But if you are truly in need of sanitary products, I would contact your state, your department of health, Planned Parenthood, etc. and see if you could get some help. I would also contact churches, Catholic charities, welfare, and see if there was any funding available to assist you. Womans Space, for domestic abuse, homeless shelters etc. if you were in that dire need. Or maybe find an alternative like they have the cup. Or those period panties that are supposed to absorb the blood, I mean I don’t know where you are if you’re in a Third World country or what the situation is, but you figure it out.￼

Bc of my lifestyle and heavy flow I tend to sometimes use nocturnal pads since I can't really stop what im doing to change my pad w that much frequency.

Maybe a menstrual cup will work better for you. And it saves money over time.

This may seem gross to some but I normally put toilet paper over my pads. Most give me rashes and irritate my skin down there so that why. Since I do that I normally don’t have to change pads that often

I try to use reusable stuff to save money, or make cloth pads with old fabrics (the ones which are safe, like cotton.) 
And sometimes people have given me their old stash of pads (I don't use tampons,) which they won't use, due to menopause or hysterectomy. I know multiple people who have had a hysterectomy, and they had a big stash of products! 
So I actually try not to spend money on stuff like that- I have occasionally out of convenience, or surpise period 🙃
In general, I don't believe in buying ANYTHING disposable, just to throw it away- I have to have a legitimate reason to do so, like for health reasons.
But I also have picky family members who give me stuff if they don't like it.
