Hello, I know that if you have the implanon inserted anytime during your cycle that is not your period you have to wait 7 days before you can have unprotected sex, in the meantime other contraceptive methods such as condoms or continuing the pill for those 7 days in my case are recommended.

My question is why is it specifically 7 days and not more or less?

Does it take specifically 7 days to work and am I guaranteed to be protected on the 7th day if I have unprotected sex?

Or does the 7 days figure come from a woman’s typical fertile window being 7 days. (5 days before ovulation that sperm can survive inside the vagina/uterus ect and 2 days after ovulation that the egg is viable)
