How fertile for how long are you after having baby?

I know you are super fertile after having baby but how long does that last? My lo is just past 10 months and we are trying for number 2 but I just wondered if being that post partum if you are still super fertile.

That isn't really how it works you're not more fertile so much as you don't really know when you're ovulating and you can ovulate more than once as your body still tries to adjust.

You are no more fertile after having a baby than at any other time. To be fertile, you must be ovulating and you don't continually ovulate after birth. In fact, most breast feeding mamas don't ovulate for the first 6 months, or until baby starts solid foods, and some longer than that. There are some who begin ovulating right away, so it's not that you're any extra fertile, it's just that you don't have a cycle and it could happen pretty much any time. You usually ovulate before a period and sometimes with breastfeeding you ovulate but still don't get a period.
My grandma was one of the "lucky" ones who gets it back early, so she got pregnant about 3m pp twice in a row even though she was breastfeeding. My body takes more time, I've gotten pregnant about 9.5m pp both times.
The best thing to do is to track your ovulation, especially if you want to have another baby. I use OPKs from around 1 month going forward so I can see what my body is doing. After this baby is born, I plan to get a wearable thermometer to do BBT as well because I just can't take my temp in three morning with 3 little ones.

I think it only lasts for 3 months. I’ve heard it’s because in that time period, your body is trying to adjust to not being pregnant anymore
