Bleeding before sugar pill week

I’ve been on birth control for a year and a half and I haven’t started my period earlier then it’s scheduled time ever (the day before I get super light spotting). This month I have super dark spotting 6 days before my sugar pills start. I’m very confused because this hasn’t happened before. I did some research and am seeing stuff about implantation bleeding and am wondering if it could be that ( my boyfriend has pulled out every time this month). I need some answers!!!
