Did you allow your baby to eat his first birthday cake?

I know we arent supposed to have them eat sugar, so he cant have some of his cake too?:(
How do you all completely avoid sugar for babes? I mean,  my son is 10 months right now and though I do ccook for him, sometimes I have gotten him baby food and it does have sugar . How can we completely avoid sugar and salt like they tell us to do?

I allow my child little bits of sugar and when it’s his birthday he can have a slice of cake

Everything has sugar. Bread, yogurt, even milk. You want to look for things that don’t have added sugars. I let my oldest eat her smash cake (she only ate a little bit of it anyway) and I will do the same for my 11 month old. A little sugar here and there will not hurt them. Both my girls are wonderful eaters

Some of the rules are ridiculous!  Yes if your feeding your kid ice cream everyday hes going to get addicted and probably develop some health issues but a piece of birthday cake isnt going to harm them in anyway!!! You just dont want to be pumping them with sugar!

And everything in moderation!
Obviously don’t let them eat the whole cake, but a few bites isn’t going to hurt them! It’s their birthday, let them have some cake!

You sound like you are doing a great job and being conscious of sugar, that’s great! We did the same for a long time - we didn’t give any sweets and now my 2.5 yo doesn’t really have much of a sweet tooth which I think is great. We did give him cake for his first - it was his first processed sugar - he had some but we didn’t go overboard and he’s still happy and thriving! You can totally let your kiddo have some cake on their first birthday! Life is all about balance.

My son definitely ate his cake at his first birthday and his second and will at every birthday. There is no possible way to avoid all sugars. It’s more about moderation anyway.

Let them eat the cake! You only get one birthday every year - my kids get smash cakes every birthday up until about age 3 or 4 and then when they start school we get a cake of their choosing made for them and their friends to share!

A few bites is not going to hurt them. Everything has sugar in it, even in small amounts.

Make your own cake... use honey or brown sugar instead , use half the recommended in recipes. Cook with less salt and have a salt shaker on the table for every one to add after...don't go to extremes and not to often 
 you should be fine 🙂
