Transition to Toddler Bed

For those of you who currently have a little one in a crib (or did with previous children) did you try to transition your child to a toddler bed so that you wouldn’t have to buy a second crib? My daughter will be just a few weeks over 2 years old when this little one arrives!

How did you all transition to a toddler bed? Any tips? She currently sleeps on a cot at daycare for nap time and doesn’t have any issues, but I also know that’s only for about 1-2 hours at a time. She sleeps through the night really well. Although she has her moments when she’s sick that she will wake up.
