Why are we trying to lower abortion rates?

Yes I am a Christian but I am pro choice, I don’t care if people disagree with me I have my own convictions about abortion. My question is, I hear a lot of pro choice people say they want to lower abortion rates?

My question is, why? I believe abortion should be considered as an option just as much as parenting or adoption. Yes birth control should be the first option, but then after that why does it matter if someone gets an abortion or not? pregnancy is actually a lot more dangerous than abortion but no one tells people to lower pregnancy rates? Just something interesting I’ve noticed
