1 y/o toenail curling under into toe ?

My son is 1 & his middle toe on both feet have nails that are causing issues. For some reason they’re growing pointed (triangular) & curl down so they cut into the top of his toe. 
I’ve cut the part of the nail growing under off multiple times but it just grows right back. I have to like slide the nail clippers under the nail from the side to be able to cut the point off. 
He doesn’t wear shoes. I’m a firm believer of shoes being accessories until baby walks full time & that they learn better barefoot. 
He does take a few steps here & there but mostly still relies on crawling & I have a feeling the toenails cutting into him may be hurting when he walks…
How do I correct this?

Stay on top of cutting them and keeping them short?

My little one had this too. Ask your pediatrician. Don’t mess with it too much they can get bad ingrown nails and end up infected. When you bathe him gently push the skin back with a warm wet cloth is what my pediatrician said. I also stopped using shoes (unless outside) and never used sock (not even at bed) unless it was really cold. It made a huge difference.

My sons do this too, not triangular though, that might be due to how you cut them. But il pretty sure it's from footy pjs

My daughters did this. They even bled a little around 3/4, but they’re better now.

My daughters did this and still do a bit. She is 2.5 now and it isn’t as bad. You just keep an eye on them.

Are the nails super soft?
I would discuss with a doc, might be totally normal, but also might be some mineral is low in his system, that makes nails grow not firm enough.
