Why does he care who I slept with?

So my ex and I have been dating and thinking about giving a relationship another shot. We where broken up for about a year. One of the things he said he needed to know was if I slept with anyone since I dated him or not?
Why does this matter?? It’s not like I cheated on him, I didn’t sleep with anyone over the last year but I don’t see how it matters if I wasn’t with him?

He has the right to know what he's being exposed to. Everytime you sleep with someone, there is a risk of transmission, STD wise. Maybe he is interested to know so he can make a decision as to weather or not he wants to persue something with you. 
To some people, there is a number that they won't cross. If someone were to hear that during a break their interest slept with 15 people....that may sway them and cause them to rethink. Which is their right...provided that they don't shame the other person of course.
