What to take to the beach?

My husband and I just booked a vacation for next month, without kids 😱
We’re super excited! Neither of us has been to the beach before and have no idea what to pack. What are things we for sure need to bring, or things you wish you would have brought! I’m an over thinker and always come over prepared and get anxious if I’m not.

Beach towels, cooler with ice for drinks and foods, sun screen if you need it, sunglasses, chairs if you don’t want to sit down in the sand.

Take snacks, beach food can be quite costly. So make sure you have something to bring to the beach to eat, and have something to quickly cook once you go back to where you're staying. Beach makes us hungry and sleepy 
Bring a jacket. Sometimes it can get cold/windy at night, especially if you're closer to the water. 
I cant stress enough moisturizer after the shower at the end of the day. Even if you didnt get any sunburns. 
Sunscreen every two hours even if you feel you're fine and the day is cloudy. I've had terrible sunburns when it wasnt even sunny.

Solar cane in case you get sunburn, aloe, actually a whole sunburn kit, sunblock, Band-Aids, take a first aid kit just in case, mosquito repellent,, depending where you’re going you may be able to rent the beach chairs or the umbrella etc. ￼￼

-change of clothes! You wouldn't believe the ammount of times I've had to wear my bathing suit home because I didnt bring clean underwear!

-baby powder to get stubborn sand off

Sandals because the sand gets HOT. sun screen. An umbrella but watch for wind because a strong gust and that thing is gone. Chairs if you don’t want to sit in the sand, otherwise, towels to sit on and extra towels to dry off with. lots of water. Sunglasses. Hat.

For the actual beach I take an old king sized flat sheet and put the towels on or around that.  Sunscreen which gets applied multiple times while there because I burn easily.  A clamshell or umbrella for shade.  Snacks and drinks which I over pack because beaching makes me extra hungry and thirsty for some reason.  Books, magazines, music, and perhaps a dice or deck of cards for games if not a beach game like paddle ball or something.  Hats and sunglasses.  
For when not at the beach I keep it to maxi dresses and sandals/flip flops, lounge wear and comfy clothes.

We just pack a few pair of clothes because we buy clothes there too. I pack my sandcastle kit (I love making sandcastles). I'll pack his sunscreen and then some snacks.
