How long does it take to finalize custody of a child?

For those of you who filed for child support and whatever amount of custody of your child how long did the process take?

Answer

Generally can take six months but child support doesn’t handle custody family court does child support jus touts on paper visitation schedule that really it anything involving custody would be with family court

When my ex and I were setting up our parenting plan/custody agreement, we (and our lawyers) knocked it out in an afternoon and our lawyers filed it with the courts in less than a week. We agreed on everything beforehand, so it was pretty quick, easy, and painless. I was also moving out of state, and needed to file quickly so I could take my kids with me (which he agreed to). 
I imagine if you don’t agree it would be longer/harder.
