FTM..First Appointments?

Question

Feeling v overwhelmed w the dr/appointment side of things. What does the “timeline” of appointments and scans look like for 1stTrimester? Just called and scheduled my first one for 6w5d, is that too early? Should my hubby come to that first appointment? It sounded like it would just be a urine test which seems silly to me but I guess they gotta confirm 🤔. DYING to get advice from my girlfriends but can’t let the secret out this early… TIA for your help!! 🥰

My first appointment wasn’t until 12 weeks and I got an ultrasound then. Yes when you go in early they just have you pee in a cup and say yay you’re pregnant lol. Sometimes they’ll do early blood tests to measure HCG but my doctor doesn’t do that always. I had an early ultrasound at 8 weeks with my first but only because I miscarried before. In general if you’re not bleeding or you feel awful they don’t really do much first trimester. Longest wait of my life!!

I had a scan at my first appointment which was 5 weeks 6 days, but that was probably only because I had some bleeding the week before and she wanted to make sure it wasn’t ectopic. My OB does scans at every appointment until after 20 weeks, but I don’t think that’s common. My husband was working out of state and I was super bummed he couldn’t make it because I did get to hear baby’s heart beat, so if your husband can come I would do it. I think they don’t do all the blood work until the 2nd appointment because you have to be further along for the genetic tests. They might do a Pap smear too.

My first apt was at 10weeks exact. 
I filled out a bunch of paperwork, paid for a my apts that my insurance didn’t cover, got an ultrasound, papsmear, blood work & blood pressure check. as well as the basic physical.

That’s kinda early, but probably okay. Most first appointments are done between 7 and 9 weeks. The first appointment is usually an ultrasound for dating. If they can see the baby they measure it to determine how far along you are. You should also hear a heartbeat. If your husband is able to go, I would bring him. It’s exciting to hear that heartbeat for the durst time. My OB’s office still has covid precautions and won’t allow my husband to come with me this time around. After that first appointment, my next one wasn’t until 12 weeks.

My first one was at 5 weeks, but it was simply to confirm the pregnancy, get me on prenatal vitamins, and get me up-to-date on my check-ups (i.e. physical, pap smear, and/or update medical history as needed)
Then they didn't schedule me until I was 10-12 weeks, where I got an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat.
