I have a two month old son that has a dermoid cyst on the top of his right eyebrow. It has grown a little since birth and the pediatrician is sending us to an ophthalmologist to see if they can cut it out when he is six months or a year old but I feel like we should have a referral to a plastic surgeon instead? Just wondering if anyone has been through this and has any input? I am concerned that if it keeps growing it can affect his vision, get larger and get infected, or rupture from accidentally hitting it on something when he can crawl or walk. And honestly, I don’t want him to grow up with a big bump on his face and have a larger scar later on than if we were to cut it out now when it’s still small.

Seems like the pediatrician believes it’s more of a cosmetic thing so may not be covered by Kaiser insurance but from what I’ve read, others have had it removed and covered so I’m a little confused.

Anyone else experiencing this or have experienced it?
