What age did your baby sit up

My boy just turned 6 months and a lot of people have been telling me he should be able to sit on his own by now. This isn’t something I put too much thought into. I just let him take his time but hearing it a lot lately has made me think that something might be wrong.
What age did your baby’s sit up independently

My baby started at 4 months to show signs and, by 5 and half, was sitting fine. I think there’s no specific time but doctors might say before 9 months. I’ll check with your pediatrician if you have any concerns.  
I think they might be going by the 3,6,9,12 mantra of head, shoulders, knees and toes: 3months-can hold up head, 6months-can sit up with shoulders high, 9months-can crawl on knees, 12months-can stand on toes.

My son is 10 months, if I’m on the floor and sit him up he’ll stay like it, but he won’t get himself into that position. It is hard to give him a lot of floor time as his older siblings are too crazy and also don’t clean up so I’m having to constantly hoover and scrub the floor

All babies are different. My daughter was sitting unassisted by about 3.5 months but was always fast with physical milestones. My nephew didn't sit up until 8-9 months. Both totally normal and healthy kids. If there is an issue your ped doc will talk to you at well visits but everything is probably fine. It will happen when it happens.

8 1/2 months. I think 6 months is a little early to be sitting. They have to get on their knees and hands to get up to sit.

He could sit up in high chair about 5 months. Basically it is sitting with a little support
But he transitioned to sitting position and started playing sitiing around 8 months.
We go to baby classes once a week and the physio who is teacher told it is totally normal, and it is best to not force any sitting, baby will start doing it himself and that is better for mucle developement.

All babies are different. Both mine were sitting around 6 1/2 months but they were still unstable. I think 7ish months is when I felt totally confident with them sitting up without any support or worrying about them toppling over.

My son started sitting up completely unassisted, no tripod sit, by 5.5 months. My nephew is 5 months older than my son and he started sitting up 2 weeks later at nearly 11 months. Every baby is different.

My baby started to sit up by herself at 4 and a half months. She sits unassisted for as long as she wants now at 6 months. I think it’s because it’s her favourite position so we practiced heaps.
