6 week scan pointless?

Hey, this is my 1st pregnancy and I’m nervous that something will go wrong (obviously super normal as everyone feels like that) but I didn’t know if a 6 week scan was worth it to get piece of mind that everything is where it should be and how many are there? Or should I try hold out and wait til 8 weeks? 
I’m in the uk so only scan you get are 12 weeks then 20 so I’d pay for early ones just want to know if it’s worth it?

I had an early scan for dating, but they could only see the yolk sac and no baby, and told to go back in 2 weeks. I am still waiting for the next scan to confirm the pregnancy is progressing and viable and the last 10 days have been filled with So much anxiety that I wish I hadn't had the early scan. 
So I guess your experience can go either way, but I would try and hold off

I had my first scan at 5 weeks 6 days and we could measure his heartbeat but I know that sometimes you can’t and that’s totally normal and I know it’s totally awful waiting but if I hadn’t seen anything on that scan I would have panicked for the next two weeks over nothing. I would wait if you can.

I was talking to my OB about this (they dont do first ultrasound until 12 weeks u less you have a history of miscarriage/complications/ectopics). She said the early ultrasounds are a more recent phenomonen in the last 20ish years. There is no real purpose except our society likes to have "proof" and likes to ease our mind. In reality, you can see very little that early so there is no need. And something could go wrong at any point theoughout a pregnancy so its not really "confirming" anything at all. This is my first preg so I am just trying to be calm and realize whatever happens is out of my control regardless

My OB always wanted me in at 7 weeks. I feel like 6 week scans are more common with fertility clinics. I would see if you can get in at 7 weeks! You should be able to see heartbeat for sure by then 🥰
