Am I wrong for declining cervical checks/elective induction??

Question

My doctor has been offering for me to schedule an elective induction at 39 weeks since I was 30 weeks along. I don’t have a high risk pregnancy (I’m 31 and healthy) and baby is moving fine and his heartbeat sounds great at my weekly checkups. My question is, am I wrong for declining being induced at 39 weeks? I have also declined weekly cervical checks, as I don’t see a point in my case since I want to let baby come on his own if at all possible, and I had a bad experience with cervical checks in my previous two pregnancies.

I would 100% be doing the same as you. Cervical checks aren't nessesary, and if you don't have any underlying health risks there's no need to have an induction.

You are 100% in your right to decline. If there is no indication of anything amiss there is no need to be induced at 39 weeks. 
I had my first cervical test my most recent appointment and that I asked for as I was interested to see if my cervix has started softening. (I was 38+4)
Don’t let your doctor gaslight you. It’s also never too late to change doctors if you don’t feel comfortable.

My midwife hasn’t checked me at all. She prefers to be hands off and trusting that our bodies know when and where is the right time for baby to be born. She said if I wanted a cervical check I just have to ask but she wants me to make that choice. 
I think if I was seeing my OB like my last pregnancy I would ask her to not do them. I was induced at 37 weeks with my son. As much as the last few days of being uncomfortable and having contractions have been her getting what she needs from me is the most important. 
It should be your choice whatever you choose to do. Either way you do what feels right for you, your body, and your baby!

No you’re not wrong. I can’t stand when doctors try to push inducing at 39 weeks. Where I live at it happens with anyone that goes to a doctor that isn’t the OB I go to. Also my doctor makes sure to let me know checks are optional. I personally don’t mind getting them and I really like knowing if I’m progressing especially after going to 41 weeks with my first and never even starting to dilate or anything. I ended up getting induced by choice even though my doctor told me I could of waited another week before he would of recommended induction. You do what you’re comfortable with.

Nope I am the exact same. Declined cervical checks at every appointment since being dilated doesn’t Indicate when labor will happen. I did the same with my first. I also don’t want to be induced unless I go over my due date and it’s no longer safe to stay pregnant

I requested one but only because I have a history of zero symptom yeast infections. So no smell, no weird discharge, no itching. So they check for those for me and lucky they did cause i had one at 38 and 5 days. My midwife was all ina tiz about getting it cleared up before going into labor.
