So I got an IUD at my six week postpartum appt and I was super excited about it buuuuut whenever I’ve tried to have sex with my husband he’s cried out in pain and says he can feel it. I’ve already contacted my midwife and had an ultrasound done and she said it’s where it’s supposed to be and my hubby shouldn’t be able to feel jt ( she totally thought I was lying) does anyone else have any experience with this? Is there anything I can do or do I need to resign myself to using a different form of BC?

You can request to get your strings shortened if they're on the longer side. The strings were created to soften and kind of fold up over time so they're less noticeable. My husband could feel them when I had an iud as well. I ended up just switching bc methods to the patch (which I did like for the 3ish years I used it!) Because its what was best for me and him at the time. I hope you find a solution right for you and your family!! 🌟

I would recommend setting up an appointment with an actual ￼gynecologist. In my experience, my midwife doesn’t have the same type of knowledge that my gynecologist does. ￼Ask how long your strings are, they shouldn’t be longer than 2-3 cm.￼ ￼

I had an IUD for 5 years. My provider told me when I had it inserted that it was a possibility and I could Have the strings shortened. My partner could feel it right away, so she shortened them and it was more comfortable.

Go to a gynecologist and have them clip the string for you. I had to do the same thing when I had my IUD.

Everyone is different but I literally just had the worst experience with the iud lol it fell out and was stuck inside of me But that being said it’s extremely rare for that to happen just like it’s extremely rare for me to end up having twins lmao guess I’m just that rare 2%! Lol I’m back on the pill maybe try the pill put an alarm on your

Definitely ask to have the strings shorten, my husband and I experienced that same then when I had my iud a few years ago.

Have them shorten your strings. My fiancé cannot feel mine and they have soften a lot over the last 4-5 months

Girl let me tell you I went back and forth to the birth control method  so after my 6 week postpartum last year I got my iud as well everything went well until my husband also kept saying he feels it so then when I went to go check my iud wasn’t in place it’s sort like crooked so I got scared 😱 and thought oh know what if goes more inside so I took it out by myself I knw I wasn’t supposed  it thank god I was able to do it snd when I asked my dr she also said I wasn’t supposed but since I did she asked if everything came out like the part of the IUd and it did no pain no nothing ok then I switched to nexplanon ( in the arm ) I thought I made the best decision but I was wrong the 24/7 spotting was annoying and cramps was bad for me so again I removed it snd thought maybe if I go back to the iud and tell them to cut the strings shorter so my husband doesn’t feel it again I was wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️ he said he could still feel it so then went to the clinic had it removed now trying to decided shoud use the confirm or the pill it was just sucks headache .. and thinking the things go through as women the pain and all it’s crazy .. but yea overall my husband felt it twice 🤷🏼‍♀️
