Blood test to find out gender, is it reliable?

Hey ladies , so I have a prenatal check up on the 20th of this month and my doctor told me that if I wanted to they could go ahead and do a blood test to find out the gender of little bean. I’ll be 12 weeks when I go to this appointment. My question is, how many of you have had this done and it be right when you go to have your 20 week scan? I’m just curious because I had a friend who had the blood test done. It told her she was having a boy but when she went back to find out the gender via ultrasound and it was a girl. I know it’s not 100% accurate. I’m just curious of others stories and experiences ❤️

It’s like 99.9% accurate through your doctor and genetic testing. If you go through sneak peek there’s a chance of contamination which would give you the wrong results.

They say it's 99.99% accurate but I've heard of more people getting the wrong gender than getting the correct one

I did the sneakpeek test because genetic testing through the doctor isn’t covered by insurance. 
I was super careful about sterilizing everything and got my results back today. It’s a girl 🤍

Yeah it’s like 99% accurate.  Just check your insurance to see how much it is. Mine is like $700.  (It goes toward my deductible though, which I’ll hit this year so it didn’t matter for me)

It doesn't really make sense to do it at 20 weeks to be honest, because they can clearly see the gender on ultrasound by then. It's typically done at 10 weeks but the purpose is to check for chromosomal abnormality, it just so happens to also detect the gender chromosomes. If you're just wanting to know the gender, they'll tell you during your anatomy scan. The blood work takes a week or two to come back, yet you'll have a gender answer right away at the scan.
