Extreme Sides: ((please read post)) If the world viewed sex in one way, what way would YOU pick?

**This is a poll intended for interesting (possibly entertaining) debate. It is not to suggest our world could or should be driven to one of the two extremes described. It is also not an open forum to slut shame or virgin judge people for their lifestyle or choices.

Hypothetically, let’s say you were living in a world much like our own, but the subject of sex was defined in one way and universally accepted that way… much like it is universally accepted that being kind is a good quality, or murdering someone is a bad act…pretend sex was a subject that had general universal agreement on the time and place it was or wasn’t ok to have sex, and with whom… let’s say you could choose to live in a world where sex was either:

An act reserved for partners who were committed and in love, and for all intents and purposes happily together for life..

OR

a casual act between any consenting relationship where two people agreed that they wanted to have sex with the other and that was that.. similar to say, a hug or high-five, or a casual pleasant encounter for reasons like comfort, it felt good, just seemed fun, etc..

Let’s say the human physical consequences/complexities of sex were still the same, but the social or emotional consequences were maybe accepted differently.. for examples:

-pregnancy still as possible or preventable as is currently. Reaction to news of pregnancy may be different depending on mindset around sex.

-ability to spread STIs still a thing. Reaction to news of STI may be less stigmatized or less frequent depending on mindset around sex.

-Sex is inclusive of all sexual preferences in both scenarios.

-The concept of ‘cheating’ wouldn’t exist because people either all shared the idea that sex was for commitment and were universally happy with that or sex was so casual it wasn’t any different then a hand shake or small talk, and nobody gets mad at people shaking hands or making small talk.

To help yourself answer, think about what would make for a happy world, an accepting world, a world with the kind of relationship(s) (human to human) that you want to have and you think are providing the best outcome beyond just relationships people will or won’t be making. Consider sharing the main PROs and CONS for each side and why you were swayed one way.
