This is my first pregnancy, are braxton hicks supposed to be painful?

I've experienced braxton hicks 6 times, I had two today not to long ago (im 27 weeks today!!) I than had 2 in 25 weeks and 2 in 22 weeks, they're extremely tight sensation and feel like a sharp cramp but worse, though they have only lasted a couple of minutes and then it goes away but the sharp pain leans on my right hip only... and the other side just tightens up, and stretches around my back, anyone experienced this? Is this a braxton hicks contraction?
