Am I an asshole? Why would you do?

Caitlin

My partner and I have a baby together and we’re currently looking for daycare placements for when I go back to work.

Thing is... I’m the bread winner. I’m going back to work full time (40+ hours a week) at a decent paying job whereas he’s currently working an unpaid investment job that’s about 20 hours a week at most. He has no schedule, his work can be done whenever he wants. And if he finishes his task for the week in an hour, that’s all he has to do.

I’ll be working onsite. There’s no way to work from home. Whereas he’s entirely based at home.

I don’t know if I’m being an asshole but I sort of don’t want to pay for daycare at all! It’s all my money. He has no savings. I’ll be the one paying for the house when we move out of my parents house (We’re very blessed to be living with parents who don’t mind if we never move out).

If he’s only working 4 hours a day tops, and not paying for anything, then I sort of want him to either suck it up and get a second job or suck it up and take care of the baby.

I know daycare will be good for her development though. She doesn’t get to socialise much. So that’s why I’m on the fence.
