Membrane sweep?

As of 38 weeks exactly I’m 1 1/2 cm dilated & 40% effaced, I’ll be 38 weeks 4 days at my next appointment thinking of asking for a membrane sweep, I just wanna hear some of your guys at stories!
Did it work? Does it hurt? Worth a try? This is baby #4 but I never got it with my others.

I had one when I was 39 +5(Wednesday), my cervix was only 1.5 dilated..that night my mucus plug came out, was having contractions Friday(due date) around 11am and had my son at 8:22 pm. It was uncomfortable but I would say worth it

I had one at 38+1. I was 3cm and 70% effaced. I lost a lot of mucus discharge, some even with blood in it. My water broke spontaneously when I was 38+6, and I delivered 30 hours later at 39. 
My doctor said if it was successful, it would have been within 24 hours of the sweep, so I don’t think it worked for me. I didn’t think it was painful, more so very uncomfortable and A LOT of pressure.

I had one 2 days before my due date. It was a little uncomfortable but I didn’t think it hurt. It worked for me as I went into labor 12 hours later.

I had one Wednesday. Midwife said I was almost 2cm dilated already. Mucus plug/bloody show the next day but nothing else since.

Just had one on Thursday (4days ago) . Midwife said I had a bit of bloody show . It was a bit uncomfortable but if you breath it’s not bad at all. I was crampy after but nothing has happened since. I’m 39+5 and was 1-3cm .
