When did your cervix start dilating?

And when did you go into labour? 
Just had my first cervix check at 36 weeks and it was very tight, closed, and long. I was hoping for different news bc I really need this big girl out of me!!!

Unfortunately cervix checks for dilation mean nothing 99% of the time. With my first I never dilated and went Into labor at 39 weeks. My second I started dilating at 36 weeks and sat at 4 cm…had him at 39 weeks and 1 day.

Dilation and effacement actually don’t really mean that labor is near. You could be dilated for weeks or you could not be dilated at all and progress through dilation fast when you do go into labor. 
Try not to stress too much!

I was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced on Monday at 34/5. That doesn’t mean a whole lot, cause you can be dilated forever and still need intervention. Lol but she said “it feels like the bottom is about to drop out”, so I’m guessing (and so is she) that we’re not making it to 40 weeks. 😅 she said if she had to guess I’d have her by 37 weeks, if not before. Everybody is different though. 💜

I’ve never been checked before 39 weeks . My cervix was hard and closed with my first two until I was induced. My third baby I was at 1cm at 39+3 and had a sweep .

Why did your dr check your cervix? Did you have symptoms? Or is it normal to do it so soon? I never had a cervix check with my first baby but I hear so many people have them!

I dilated from 2-10 in an hour and a half with my oldest and had him the day before his due date. don’t stress it dilation means nothing. My second I was 4 cm for like a week before I had my son 5 days early
